Loflin Wins PRSA Award
Teresa
Loflin, Community and Membership Relations Director for
the High Point Museum, was awarded the Public Relations
Society of America Tar Heel Chapter Leadership Award.
Loflin has served on the board since 2008 as the Vice
President of Membership. During that time, the Chapter’s
membership has increased by 34% and was recognized
nationally as the fastest growing medium sized chapter
in 2008.
"Teresa
is a huge asset to our organization and has done so much
behind the scenes, it's only fitting that she is
recognized with this award,” Donnie Turlington, PRSA
Board President, said. “As an advocate for the
membership, she does a great job of keeping each person
on the board of directors focused on our goal of serving
the members and advancing the professional."
The
Public Relations Society of America, headquartered in
New York City, N.Y., is the world's largest professional
organization for public relations professionals, with
nearly 20,000 members, organized into 117 Chapters
nationwide, who represent business and industry,
counseling firms, government, associations, hospitals,
schools, professional services firms and nonprofit
organizations.
The Tar
Heel Chapter represents the Triad region (Greensboro,
High Point and Winston-Salem), the western Piedmont and
throughout western North Carolina to Tennessee. The
Chapter, chartered in 1981, currently has 112 members.
“The Tar Heel chapter
consists of some of the brightest public relations
practitioners in the Triad and I would put their work
and individual efforts up against the membership of any
other chapter in North Carolina,” Turlington said. “To
be a Spinks Award winner means that you are one of the
best of the best among the state’s communicators.”
The High Point Museum collects, preserves and interprets
the history of greater High Point to develop, encourage
and foster a shared understanding and appreciation of
our community through a knowledge of its past. |
