Historical Park

Adjacent to the Museum is the Historical Park.  It is the home of the John Haley House.  Built in 1786, this solid brick structure is the oldest house in High Point.  Accompanying the Haley House in the Historical Park are the Blacksmith Shop, Hoggatt House and historic herb garden.

The Blacksmith Shop, now outfitted as it would have been in the days John Haley was a practicing blacksmith, was moved to the grounds in 1970 from Davidson County.

In 1973, the Hoggatt House became a part of the Historical Park.  Built in 1801 by the Hoggatt family, the log home was relocated to Museum property in 1973.

Centered among the three structures is a historically authentic herb garden, featuring many commonly recognized herbs.

Costumed interpreters perform living history demonstrations and offer guided tours
in the Historical Park on weekends.
